Title: White Dwarf - M star pairs in the Sloan Survey
Abstract: Using colors and spectra, we have found about 80 WD-M star pairs in the Sloan database. Many show strong Balmer emission, and some have emission cores in H beta, gamma, etc. We are therefore studying binaries at a wide range in separations, and can examine how the irradiation from the white dwarf affects the magnetic activity level of the M star. We then compare the activity level of these irradiated systems with the field M star population.
