Title: A large area survey for high proper motion stars at the South Galactic Cap.
Abstract: I present results and statistics from an R-band survey for high proper motion stars. The survey has been conducted on two epochs of SuperCOSMOS digitised Schmidt plates, covering approximately 10 percent of the sky at the South Galactic cap. I have conducted statistical tests on the search procedure in order to gain accurate completeness limits for all combinations of magnitude and proper motion. These are the first such tests to be conducted on any proper motion survey, and will lead to far better constraints on the dynamics and numbers of stars in the local solar neighbourhood.
